Chris Hale built Appraze the way he learned everything else — by doing the work. Auto parts, grocery stores, dry cleaning, commercial linens, Google, then resale: he knew the job before he named the software.
Chris didn't come up through the startup pipeline. Appraze wasn't invented in a conference room — it came from the daily friction of trying to make money on real inventory: deciding what's worth buying, calculating fees and profit, tracking stock, getting items listed. Millions of people have app ideas. He built the machinery around his.
The nerd streak runs in the family. His father, Christopher Hale Sr., ran IT and networks at a hospital and wrote GPS truck-tracking software in C++ — then, in what Chris calls his dad's midlife crisis, joined the V-Twin Cruisers MC of Springfield, Ohio, where they called him Beaker. He died in a motorcycle accident years ago. The Appraze codebase carries his dedication: “In memory of my father, Christopher Hale, who tracked trucks in C++ before I ever tracked a deal.”
Chris is building Appraze in public, under pressure, with his name on the front — for working resellers, for his wife Ashley and their four kids, and as proof that where you start doesn't decide what you're allowed to build.
